Heavy Vehicle Safety Network (HVSN)

What is the Heavy Vehicle Safety Network?

The Heavy Vehicle Safety Network (HVSN) is made up of ACRS members who are passionate about promoting and advocating for road safety strategies across the heavy vehicle transport sector. The transport sector is vital to economies around the world, yet crashes involving trucks are a significant contributor to road trauma on gobally. In accordance with the ACRS, the vision of the HVSN is also a world where no one is killed or seriously injured on the road. ACRS members are welcome to join and participate in working towards this core vision.

The Network includes ACRS members who are truck drivers, driver trainers, researchers, policy practitioners, and industry advocates who possess expertise and experience in areas including:

  • Heavy vehicle driver training and education
  • Small/medium transport business operations
  • Road transport related academic research and policy development
  • Fatigue regulated driving
  • Road safety fatigue & human factors

The HVSN offers unique opportunities to connect with passionate road safety professionals, practitioners, and stakeholders, including industry, government, and regulators to have conversations about safety issues. We want to share each other’s experiences, collaborate on ideas, support each other, and resolve challenges for those working in or researching the heavy vehicle transport sector.

The Heavy Vehicle Safety Network encourages members to:

  • Assist with the development of heavy vehicle policy positions, submissions to government or other industry focused enquiries, and liaising with industry bodies, government, and politicians regarding heavy vehicle safety on behalf of the ACRS
  • Participate in networking events
  • Share industry news affecting truck driver safety or new safety innovation concepts via the ACRS weekly alert
  • Connect like-minded professionals, practitioners, and stakeholders through events such as webinars and conferences
  • Contribute to the development of HVSN events such as webinars, conference workshops, and networking events.

We look forward to your invaluable contribution in making our roads safer now and into the future.
