Road safety action, advocacy, policy and reform are on the agenda at the 2026 Australasian Road Safety Conference as Australia faces five consecutive years of rising road deaths
Hundreds of Australian and international road safety experts, researchers, policymakers, practitioners and advocates will gather in Sydney from 26-29 October for the 2026 Australasian Road Safety Conference (ARSC).
The conference comes at a critical time for road safety in Australia. Road deaths have increased for five consecutive years, putting Australia significantly off track to meet its commitment under the National Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030 to halve road deaths and reduce serious injuries by 30 per cent by 2030.
Hosted by the Australasian College of Road Safety (ACRS) with Austroads, the ARSC is one of the world’s largest annual gatherings for road safety professionals. Over four days, delegates will examine the evidence, policies and practical interventions needed to prevent people being killed and seriously injured on our roads. The 2026 conference theme is ‘From Evidence to Action: Shaping a Brighter Future’, with a focus on a central challenge facing road safety – translating what is already known about preventing fatal and serious road trauma into effective policy, investment and action.
Acknowledging that impactful collaboration is critical to developing optimal and innovative solutions, the conference program features international keynote speakers, workshops and presentations spanning e-mobility and cyclist safety, road design, drug driving and driver behaviour, heavy vehicle safety, data collection and analysis, pedestrian safety, safe speeds, past-crash care, enforcement and policing, safe trips to school and more.
