This International Women’s Day, we celebrate Dr Sjaan Koppel, a global leader in road safety research dedicated to protecting vulnerable road users. As an Associate Professor at MUARC, she leads groundbreaking studies on older drivers, children, and individuals with medical conditions. A 2021 review recognised her as the world’s top author on these critical topics, reflecting her decades of impact. Beyond research, Sjaan influences global road safety policy through her leadership roles with AAAM, ACRS, Safe Kids Worldwide, and TÜV SÜD. She also drives change in workplace road safety as MUARC’s academic lead for NRSPP. Her work is not just about data—it’s about saving lives.
