The 2023 Australasian Road Safety Conference will be hosted in the tropical city of Cairns, the population centre in Far North Queensland. ARSC 2023 will be held at the newly renovated Cairns Convention Centre. The world class Cairns Convention Centre is everything you would expect from an international purpose-built venue located amidst nature’s pristine playground.

Cairns is internationally known as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, and to tropical rainforests with unique flora and fauna. It is also a gateway to the vast regional and remote areas of Queensland that typify the road safety challenges of non-urban Australasia: long distance travel on infrastructure that is vulnerable to the vagaries of climate, a high proportion of heavy vehicles servicing the economically important agriculture and mining sectors, significant domestic tourism via road alongside international visitors travelling as drivers or passengers, and people experiencing transport inequity through remoteness, such as reduced access to licensing, safe vehicles and affordable safe travel. We will work with stakeholders who experience these challenges to encourage attendance and the opportunity to network with the extensive expertise that the ARSC can offer.
The conference will be held as a hybrid event, allowing delegates to attend in person or virtually, with enhancements planned for virtual engagement. ARSC 2023 is an opportunity for practitioners and researchers to blend ideas for the implementation of innovative countermeasures to reduce road fatalities and serious injuries.
