Tonight Senator Alex Gallacher spoke in the Australian Senate about Road Safety. He thanked the Australasian College of Road Safety for our efforts today in Parliament and our continued work highlighting and advocating for Road Safety, including the presentation of our 2017 ACRS Submission to Federal Parliamentarians – delivered in hard copy today to all federal politicians (2017 ACRS Submission to Federal Parliamentarians can be downloaded here).
The Senator also presses the point for Australia to mandate Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Keep Assist, noting it is “unacceptable that an important safety technology is often removed for the Australasian market, while in the US AEB will become a standard feature and in the European Union AEB is mandatory for new vehicles.”
