NSW Driver Trainers Association Conference focuses on road safety

ACRS NSW Chapter Committee member, Mr David Kennedy made sure road safety was in the driver’s seat at the NSW Driver Trainers Association Conference, held 10-11 November in Penrith.  Mr Kennedy is also a member of the ACRS NSW Chapter Committee and NSW DTA is a bronze member of ACRS.

ACRS NSW Chapter Chair, Mr Mick Timms spoke on the opening morning about the work of ACRS and the 2026 Australasian Road Safety Conference to be held in Sydney next October.

“The members of NSW DTA do more than teach learners,” Mr Timms said. “They are also involved with motorcycling, seniors and heavy vehicle licensing.”

“I might have been the one delivering the presentation, but it was a combined NSW Chapter presentation, aimed at the professional development of driver training and certification.

The afternoon keynote was delivered by ACRS Fellow, Mr Peter Frazer OAM.  Mr Greg Casey, founding committee member of the ACRS Heavy Vehicle Safety Network spoke on the second day.

Mr Timms was encouraged by interest in #2026ARSC, the Heavy Vehicle Safety Network, and ACRS membership.

Upcoming NSW Chapter activities for the remainder of November include an appearance at the Staysafe Committee hearings into regional road trauma on the 17th and the end-of-year member’s meeting and social event on the 25th.
