You are cordially invited to a road safety webinar to showcase an exciting project undertaken by one of our Early Career Scholarship recipients, Vaishali Sankar from the Northland Transportation Alliance, as part of an ACRS NZ Chapter initiative.
The webinar “Supporting safe, green and healthy school travel in Dargaville” will take place from 12 noon to 1pm NZST on Tuesday 7 May 2024.
Transport Choices Package was a program that was established in response to the Government’s Emissions Reduction Plan (ERP), to provide greater and more affordable low-emissions transport choices for everyone to get where they are going. Kaipara District Council was successful in securing Pre-implementation funding and the project primarily focussed on providing shared paths and footpaths within Dargaville township and the key outcomes of the project were to provide:
- A safe, interconnected active mode network between Dargaville town centre, the residential area and schools, and
- Safe, step free and obvious crossings at key intersections, including State Highway 12, which currently separates the Central Business District and the residential region.
