The LGN will be celebrating success at this upcoming webinar by sharing the stories of four award winning road safety projects that were implemented by local governments. Come along and be inspired by their innovation, tried and tested initiatives, and hear their tips for replicating their work. There will be something for everyone – infrastructure solutions, policy and consultation, collaboration, education and engagement, behaviour change and more. Our speakers are from councils in New Zealand, Victoria, Western Australia, and New South Wales.

Presenting their award winning road safety projects will be:

  • Robyn Denton from Hamilton City Council in New Zealand.  Their Raised Safety Platform and Upgrade to Signalised Intersection: Anglesea Street/Bryce Street, Hamilton, was the winner of the Safety and Leadership Award presented at Trafinz in 2021.
  • Adam Evans from Mitchell Shire Council in Victoria.  Their School Crossing SafetyCam Initiative was the winner of the National Awards for Local Government Road Safety category in 2022.
  • Owen Clark on behalf of City of Canning Council in Western Australia.  Their Speed Zones on Local Streets Survey was the winner of the 2023 WA Local Government Road Safety Award in the Safe System Approach – Complementary Initiatives (urban) category.
  • Melanie Suitor from ParkesForbes and Lachlan Shire Councils in New South Wales.  Their Load Restraint Education Project was the winner of the IPWEA (NSW + ACT) Excellence in Road Safety Award in 2022.
