World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

REMEMBER. SUPPORT. ACT.

On Sunday 16 November 2025 we mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, a United Nations-endorsed day that honours the millions of people killed or seriously injured on the world’s roads each year and acknowledges the profound grief carried by families, first responders, health workers, and communities.

Globally, more than 1.2 million people are killed and around tens of millions are seriously injured on our roads each year. These are not statistics. Each represents a life cut short, families changed forever, and communities deeply affected. Road trauma remains a public health, equity, and human rights challenge that demands sustained and collective action.

We extend our sincere thanks to Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia, and Patron of the Australasian College of Road Safety, for her message in support of this day and for championing efforts to prevent road trauma. Her leadership reinforces the importance of evidence-based action to save lives and reduce serious injuries.

As the peak membership organisation for road safety, the ACRS continues to bring together researchers, practitioners, advocates, government and industry to advance safer mobility through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and global engagement.

On this day, we remember those killed and injured, support those left behind, and recommit to acting together for safer roads for all.
