Australasian College of Road Safety (ACRS) CEO, Dr Ingrid Johnston, today visited Tasmania to meet with the ACRS Tasmanian Chapter Chair, Gary McDonald, and some local members to discuss current challenges and opportunities in road safety across the state.
Following this member engagement, Dr Johnston met with the newly appointed Tasmanian Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, and Local Government, The Honourable Kerry Vincent. The meeting focused on Tasmania’s road safety priorities, the importance of evidence-based approaches, and opportunities for closer collaboration between government and road safety professionals.
Dr Johnston said the discussions highlighted both the progress being made and the pressing need for sustained action:
“Every road death and serious injury has a devastating impact on families and communities. By working together, government and the road safety sector can drive down these numbers and ensure Tasmania continues to make progress towards safer roads for everyone.”
The ACRS welcomes Minister Vincent to the portfolio and looks forward to strengthening the partnership with the Tasmanian Government, ensuring that the voices of road safety professionals and advocates are central to shaping safer outcomes for all road users.
